In 1931 Vatican Radio starts broadcasting. The station is opened by Gugliermo Marconi and pope Pius XI.

On 26 October 1957 Vatican Radio starts official broadcasts.

On 28 March 2004 Vatican Radio starts DRM broadcasts on 1611 kHz.
