Lingua franca

Information: The term Lingua Franca is usually used for a language that is the trade language in a large geographical area among people who have no common language. The term is derived of Lingua Franca, a simplified medieval form of Italian, to which Spanish, French, Greek and Arabic terms were added so that trade people in the mediterranean could understand each other. Some examples of Lingua Franca are Swahili in Africa and English in India.
