The Bo lived on the Andaman Islands, southeast of mainland India, around 65,000 years ago. The last Bo, Bo senior, died at the end of January 2010 at the age of 85. With her death also died the language. She was the last person on earth to speak this language.
Bo was one of the ten languages spoken on the Andaman archipel.When the British colonized the archipel in 1858, there were around 5000 Bo. Their number dramatically decreased after that, as a result of imported diseases and violence by their occupiers.
