Information: Assyrian emerged as an historic language in the 20th century BC. It was actually a dialect of Akkadian. We distinguish three periods: Old Assyrian (1950-1750 BC), Middle Assyrian (1500-1000 BC) and New Assyrian (1000-600 BC). Eventually Assyrian was replaced by Aramese. The current Assyrian is a far descendent of the old Assyrian.
